The Art of Seduction: Steve Kraitt’s Index of Truth
Index of Truth is a fine art photography project created by British photographer, creative director and artist Steve Kraitt.
The work explores identity and desire through images built to seduce first and reveal themselves slowly - immaculate surfaces disrupted by ambiguity, tension and the suggestion that beauty may be concealing something else.
BEAUTY IS A MORE RELIABLE INDEX OF TRUTH THAN REASON
The name comes from an idea that has run through the work for years: that beauty is not necessarily superficial. What we find beautiful, what we choose to show, what we desire and how we construct ourselves visually can reveal things that rational explanation often cannot.
Index of Truth brings those ideas together as a series of distinct photographic worlds, from the gloss and appetite of Lip Service and Designer Drugs to the quieter physicality of Wet to the Touch and the abstraction of The Female of the Species is Deadlier than the Male.
STEVE KRAITT
Steve's background spans photography, graphic design, creative direction and commercial image-making. That experience, particularly an understanding of how beauty and advertising imagery are constructed to attract, persuade and sell, runs directly through the work.
The same visual language is used here for a different purpose. Perfect lighting, saturated colour, immaculate skin and highly controlled composition draw the viewer in; what happens after that is less certain.
The work sits deliberately between fashion, beauty and fine art: polished enough to seduce, but rarely content simply to please.
THE PRINTS
Index of Truth Studio Prints are individually produced to order in Steve Kraitt’s studio on PermaJet Matt Plus 240gsm photographic paper, selected for its rich colour reproduction and smooth matt finish. Every print is personally checked before dispatch.
Each artwork is presented with a white paper border and supplied unmounted and unframed. The product page gives its finished sheet and image dimensions.
Studio Prints are offered as open editions: unsigned, unnumbered and intentionally accessible. Each print is £65, including standard UK delivery.
